Y supporters honored at recognition event

Share and Mike Miriovsky were presented the Ryden Service Award by Y Heritage Club Board President Patty Hermanson. The Miriovskys have supported the Y in many ways through decades of service.  

The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA held its annual Sip Savor Support donor and supporter recognition event on August 27 at the Marshalltown Arts & Civic Center. Several longtime supporters and donors to the Y were honored with awards as the Y celebrated 150 years in Marshalltown. Many of the recipients have donated hundreds of hours of volunteering as well and have been generous donors to the Y, impacting our community in many profound ways. The event was hosted by Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA CEO Kim Jass-Ramirez and Y Heritage Club Board President Patty Hermanson.

Patty and Jim Bowman, center,  received the Martha-Ellen Tye Friend Award from Mike and Jinx Bloom. Jim has been a Y member for 73 years and both have been supportive of the Y through the years as volunteers and members. 

The President’s Award was presented to, from left, Bob Peterson, Chip Norris (accepting on behalf of his dad, Dave Norris), Glenn DauSchmidt and Deloris Clayton. Not pictured but honored were Kayann Lowry and Mary McGregor. These honorees have been longtime Y members and supporters.
